IEC PROFILE: Kate Sonnenberg

Ready to learn the history, philosophy, and practice of an experienced independent educational consultant?

Meet Kate Sonnenberg, the founder of KS College Success and a college admissions expert who has seen the application process from numerous vantage points. As a former application reader in the Princeton University Admissions Office she knows what it takes to have an application that stands out. She brings this experience, as well as her background teaching English and her lawyerly eye for detail, to help guide families and empower students on their journey to college admissions success. In addition to working with her private clients, Kate is the Executive Director of EdMom Scholars, a non-profit that provides free college application counseling to high achieving, low-income students in Northern New Jersey. She is also an instructor in the Independent Education Consultant Certificate Program at the University of California-Irvine.

Kate is a graduate of Princeton University and the Columbia University School of Law. To further her professional development, she attended the IECA Summer Training Institute, completed a Certificate in College Counseling from UC-Irvine, and is a WOW Certified Essay Coach. Kate is a Professional Member of the IECA, HECA, NACAC, NJACAC and NCAG.
