IEC PROFILE: Ibrahim Firat

Meet Ibrahim Firat, who has been an IEC for 17 years. His recent positions include entrepreneurship instructor at Babson College, lead faculty for Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Businesses program, professor at Houston Community College, Head of School for Nexus Futbol Academy, an all boys’ independent soccer school for 4th-8th graders, and chief business growth consultant for the Firat Group.

Firat holds an MBA and a BA in history from the University of St Thomas (TX) and a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from Babson College. He is a member of IECA, NACAC, TACAC, and IACAC.

For eight years, he has authored The Firat Guide for Private High School Admissions and The Firat Guide for Private School Admissions. He also appears regularly on local and national news outlets discussing matters related to education, college admissions, and testing.

Firat currently serves as the president of the IECA’s board of directors and previously served as its secretary/treasurer, vice chair of College Committee and a member of the Finance Committee. In addition, he served as a board member and VP of the board of directors for the iWrite Literacy Organization.

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Firat went through the college application process as an international student when he was 17 years old, and that process inspired the work he is doing now. Firat specializes in college consulting.
